Many people are nervous, or downright scared, of coming to counseling. “Will she pick my brain?” “Will she ask me questions about my mother?” “Will it be painful?” The therapy process is one that we do together. You lead me where you want to go. Yes, there may be some painful moments and I will have to pass you the tissue. But there will be plenty of other times where we will have a good laugh together.
I provide services to all kinds of people with all kinds of struggles, from adolescence through adulthood. Depression and anxiety are my specialty, but I’m particularly interested in what causes them. This can include difficult life transitions, social problems, relationship issues, low self-esteem, history of abuse and anger problems—just to name a few. My goal is to give you some coping skills to help you feel better immediately, while working on the larger issues in need of change. My approach is eclectic, with a solid base in Cognitive-behavioral therapy.
I do believe that success in counseling is largely about finding the right fit with your therapist. That’s why I offer a free hour of consultation, either in phone or in person. If you are under the age of 18, you are welcome to bring a trusted adult.
